Product Description:

This product is indicated for neonatal sepsis, bacteremia, central nervous system infections (including meningitis), urinary and genital tract infections, lung infections, biliary tract infections, abdominal infections (including peritonitis), bone infections, as well as skin and soft tissue infections (such as burns), acute and chronic otitis media, and sinusitis—all caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus species (both indole-positive and indole-negative), Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., and staphylococci (including penicillin-G–resistant and methicillin-resistant strains). When used to treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa meningitis or ventriculitis, this product can be administered via intrathecal injection. For bronchial and pulmonary infections, it may also be inhaled as an aerosol treatment as an adjunct therapy. Tobramycin is ineffective against most Group D streptococcal infections. Additionally, it is effective for bacterial eye infections such as conjunctivitis and keratitis—particularly in cases of Gram-negative bacillary infections resistant to gentamicin, including severe Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections.
